What if I don’t have insurance or prefer not to use it?

You’re welcome to pay private/out of pocket costs if you don’t have insurance or prefer not to use it. You also have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate.” Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, all healthcare providers must give patients who are uninsured or not using insurance an estimate of the expected cost for any non-emergency services, which can include mental health services, prescription drugs, medical tests, and hospital fees.

If you request a Good Faith Estimate, your provider must give it to you in writing at least one business day before your service.

You may dispute any bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate.

To learn more about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises or call 1-800-985-3059.

Are sessions available in person?

At this time, I only offer virtual sessions. However, telehealth can provide many of the same benefits as in-person therapy while reducing barriers such as transportation, travel time, and scheduling constraints.

Can I schedule a therapy session for a loved one that I believe needs it?

It’s thoughtful of you to support someone you care about. However, because your loved one would be the actual client, they’ll need to contact me and schedule their own session unless they provide written consent directly to me for you to schedule for them.

Without that consent, I’m unable to discuss their potential care or accept a request to schedule a session or consultation call from you on their behalf. You can encourage them to reach out directly or share my contact information with them—I’d be glad to talk with them about their options.

Will therapy help me feel better?

Everyone’s experience with therapy is different, and there’s no pressure to have everything figured out before you begin or during the process. We’ll identify your goals together during the intake session, and I’ll tailor our work to support your progress.

Many people find that therapy helps them strengthen communication and problem-solving skills, improve relationships, appreciate life more fully, and heal from difficult experiences. Wherever you’re starting from, I’ll be here to support you along the way.

How often will we meet for sessions?

During the intake session, we’ll choose a schedule that fits your needs and availability. Most clients meet with me every one to two weeks, then meet less often as they make progress or as their schedules change. Scheduling and frequency of sessions will be discussed towards the end of our intake session together.

How long will therapy take, and can I stop at any time?

There’s no one-size-fits-all timeline for therapy. The length of treatment depends on your goals, needs, and response to the process. We’ll move at a pace that feels appropriate, and you can continue for as long as therapy remains helpful.

You can end therapy at any time. Before you do, I encourage you to talk with me so we can consider what best supports your progress, as ending therapy prematurely will interfere with your progress. If you simply need a break or have any other external circumstances that prevent you from committing to therapy, we can discuss pausing and returning when you’re ready.
